Deep Water
James Mead says that there are two kinds of water: muddy water and deep water. Biblical theology is deep water. May we not be afraid to not only enter the water, but to go deep into biblical theology by exploring the Bible and applying it to our personal lives. There are many people that do not go deep into Bible study not because they don’t want to, but because they don’t know how.
7 Tips to begin studying the Bible:
Start with prayer: You can pray Psalm 119:18; “Open my eyes, that I may behold wondrous things out of your law.
You don’t have to start at the beginning.
Topical study: Choose a topic relevant to you, like "courage", and focus your study on that topic. You can use a Bible concordance to find references.
Character study: Choose character in the Bible and study the passages about them. You can use Bible dictionaries to learn more about the character.
Write down what you learn: Keep a study journal.
Book study: Use the induction method to study a book of the Bible
Look up what you don’t understand.
